About The Position

The Med-Surg Registered Nurse (RN) position at Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients. This involves utilizing strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status, providing care to patients with medical and surgical diagnoses, and implementing clinical nursing interventions. The role requires a highly diverse medical skillset to develop and perform patient care plans aimed at enhancing and improving outcomes, while also ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment. Key functions include collaborating with the interdisciplinary care team, collecting vital signs, administering IV medications, understanding charting, and assessing patient condition. The RN will also evaluate, update, and revise patient care plans to facilitate the achievement of planned and expected outcomes, and administer medications safely in accordance with State of Practice and Mercy Health policies and procedures. The position requires the ability to perform effectively with a higher patient-to-nurse ratio.

Requirements

  • Diploma of Nursing or Associate of Nursing from an accredited nursing program
  • Previous RN experience on a similar nursing unit or Long-Term Care setting
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (preferred upon hire, must obtain prior to direct patient care)
