About The Position
This is a great opportunity for a Registered Nurse, RN professional to work in an organization that focuses on treating the whole person, physically, emotionally and spiritually. Loyola Medicine's 3 hospitals are located approximately 30 minutes from Downtown Chicago. Loyola University Medical Center Pre-Op is a 17 bed unit where patients prepare for surgery. It serves several functions to ensure patients are ready for their procedure. Nurses do patient assessments, education/ instructions for patients and families of what to expect after surgery. Preparations for surgery includes changing into a gown, marking the surgical site, inserting and administering IV fluids, and ensuring patients follow pre-surgery fasting guidelines.
Requirements
- A Degree from an accredited school/college of nursing is required - BSN or ADN
- BLS Provider (accredited by the American Heart Association) required prior to hire
- Illinois Board of Nursing license prior to hire
Responsibilities
- Nurses do patient assessments
- Education/ instructions for patients and families of what to expect after surgery
- Preparations for surgery includes changing into a gown, marking the surgical site, inserting and administering IV fluids, and ensuring patients follow pre-surgery fasting guidelines.
