About The Position
Boone Memorial Health is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (Pre & Post-Op) to join our Surgical Services team. In this full-time role, you will provide high-quality nursing care to patients before and after surgical procedures. This position is key in preparing patients for surgery, ensuring safe recovery, and supporting both patients and families with education and compassionate care. At the center of our organization is a 25-bed inpatient hospital with a 24/7 Emergency Department, designated as a Level IV Trauma Center. We serve our community through a network of outpatient clinics and specialty services throughout Boone County and the surrounding region. Our team is dedicated to providing safe, high-quality, and compassionate care close to home.
Nice To Haves
- Current West Virginia RN license in good standing
- Previous experience in pre- and post-operative nursing or similar acute care setting
- Strong assessment, communication, and patient education skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, anesthesia staff, and the surgical team
- Compassion, professionalism, and reliability in a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for surgery, including assessments, education, and pre-operative instructions
- Monitor patients during recovery, including vital signs, pain management, and post-anesthesia care
- Provide clear discharge instructions and patient/family education
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the medical record
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare team members
- Ensure patient safety, comfort, and dignity throughout the surgical process
