About The Position

Join the team as an RN on the Pediatric Med/Surg IMC unit (Unit 6) at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital. This hospital is nationally recognized, ranking on U.S. News & World Report’s annual “Best Children’s Hospitals” list for 17 consecutive years, and is the only academic children’s hospital in Minnesota. Located in Minneapolis, the hospital provides a broad range of pediatric programs including surgery, imaging, neonatal and pediatric intensive care, and cardiac services. The Pediatric Med/Surg IMC unit specifically cares for pediatric cardiac, solid organ (heart) transplant, infectious disease, CF, pulmonary, general medical/surgical, ENT, trauma, and orthopedic patients and their families. The unit has 24 beds and serves patients ranging from infants to young adults. This intermediate care unit (IMC) offers a challenging environment for critical care nursing, focusing on patients with complex, multi-system health issues. Requirements

  • MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
  • 1+ years of RN Experience
  • Will Consider New Grad with Internship/Capstone in Pediatrics

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing or BAN
  • Cardiac Pediatric Experience Preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s)
  • Perform responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act
  • Coordinate care with members of the health care team and delegate responsibilities to others as appropriate
  • Provide complex care to pediatric patient/families
  • Perform advanced monitoring using current technology
  • Manage sophisticated medication and infusion therapies
  • Care for patient undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures/interventions on the unit
  • Demonstrate ability to safely and accurately operate unit equipment
