About The Position

Nursing Req #: 42862 For a limited time MaineHealth is offering a $10,000 Sign on bonus for all eligible Registered Nurses with up to 2 years of RN experience and $20,000 for Registered Nurses with greater than 2 years of RN work experience! Eligible candidates are hired (offer accepted) into a Full or Part time RN position. Bonus amount prorated for Part time hires, per diem hires are ineligible. Current MaineHealth member employees are ineligible; former MaineHealth Members are ineligible until greater than 6 months' separation from employment. Our Pediatric Specialty Care Infectious Disease Travel Clinic and Nephrology Divisions are looking for a knowledgeable, caring and motivated RN to join our dynamic and growing clinics that provide care to pediatric patients from Maine and New Hampshire. This is a unique position that will be split between two divisions. The schedule is Monday-Thursday's 8a-4:30p. Monday's, Wednesday's and Thursday's, will be in our Infectious Disease and Travel Clinc. Tuesday's will be in our Nephrology Clinic. Pediatric nephrology evaluates and treats infants, children, and adolescents with a wide range of kidney problems and kidney diseases. They treat the full range of kidney conditions in children, from birth defects to endocrine and metabolic disorders. This RN would also be providing treatment to children requiring transplantation and post transplant treatment. Pediatric Infectious Disease nurses provide expert care to children with or exposed to infectious diseases and provides vaccine administration to pediatric patients who are traveling outside the US and require travel vaccinations. Position Summary The ideal candidate will have experience in pediatric nursing. Preferred knowledge and experience in infectious diseases and nephrology related disorders/ diseases. A compassionate, patient-focused approach is essential for this role. Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care for pediatric patients and their families. Administering prescribed vaccinations and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques. Observing patient, recording significant conditions and reactions, and notifying supervisor or physician of patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents. Revising plan of care as necessary, and documenting patient care in medical records. Collaborating with multidisciplinary team members to provide high quality patient care. Triaging patient calls through initial assessments, evaluating urgency of patient needs, asking follow-up or clarify questions, checking symptoms and vital signs and coordinating care with other medical professionals and physicians to determine appropriate level of service and treatment recommendations. Serving as an advocate in schools and in the community. Summary: The Registered Nurse II - Ambulatory role uses professional nursing processes to assess the needs of patients and families calling or presenting for care in the physician office and performs a wide variety of patient care services to assist physicians/advanced practice practitioners in delivering excellent care to patients of the practice.

Requirements

  • Education: Completion of nursing training from an accredited school of nursing.
  • License/Certifications: Active State of Maine Nursing License or eligible for licensure.
  • Current BLS required
  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience preferred.
  • Proven experience as a registered nurse with a focus on pediatric infectious diseases and/or nephrology.
  • Knowledge of nursing processes; health care systems, structure and functions; and community resources.
  • Knowledge of chart/medical record documentation requirements and federal/state laws related to release of health care information.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills necessary for interacting with patients, physicians, supervisors and other staff.
  • Skill in time management, problem solving, multitasking, prioritizing and medical care coordination.
  • Ability to read and interpret physicians orders and notes from other providers.
  • Ability to calculate and administer drug dosages and injections and measure results.
  • Ability to organize and accomplish multiple tasks and to have the flexibility to meet changing demands on a daily basis.
  • Ability to maintain a professional manner even under stressful situations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Strong decision-making skills and the ability to work in a high-stress environment
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required; BSN preferred.
  • License/Certifications: Current applicable state(s) license as a Registered Professional Nurse required.
  • Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date.
  • Experience: One year of RN experience required.
  • Demonstrates competency in all essential functions of a Registered Nurse I - Ambulatory Care role.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred knowledge and experience in infectious diseases and nephrology related disorders/ diseases.
  • Willing to provide education and training to the right candidate without pediatric or infectious disease experience.
  • Two years of relevant experience preferred.
