About The Position

A healthcare facility in Bronx, NY is seeking an experienced Pediatric Emergency Room RN for a 14-week contract. The ideal candidate will have strong pediatric emergency care expertise, the ability to function efficiently in a high-acuity environment, and a commitment to delivering safe, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Emergency Room nursing experience
  • Minimum 2 years of IV insertion and phlebotomy experience
  • Minimum 2 years of conscious sedation experience
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN/ADN) from an accredited program (required)
  • Active New York State RN License (Primary Source Verification via NYSED)
  • AHA BLS, PALS, ACLS
  • TNCC (Required)
  • Strong clinical judgment and pediatric emergency nursing expertise
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure ER environment
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • High attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
  • Strong time management and organizational abilities

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care to pediatric patients with acute, chronic, and life-threatening conditions
  • Perform rapid triage, initial assessments, and ongoing monitoring to determine patient acuity and prioritize care
  • Initiate and manage IV therapy, perform phlebotomy, and administer medications per physician orders and protocols
  • Assist with and monitor patients undergoing conscious sedation, ensuring safety before, during, and after procedures
  • Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition, including emergency and resuscitative situations
  • Collaborate with emergency physicians, pediatric specialists, and multidisciplinary care teams for coordinated treatment
  • Provide education, reassurance, and emotional support to pediatric patients and families
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation in the electronic health record
  • Adhere to infection control, patient safety standards, and hospital policies
  • Participate in trauma response, pediatric codes, and emergency preparedness activities as required
