About The Position

This position partners with nurse leadership to drive clinical education, onboard and mentor new RNs, and champion career development across the facility. It serves as a vital liaison between disciplines while coordinating quality, safety, and nursing standards. The role leads clinical initiatives, enforces best practices, and actively contributes to national nursing quality outcomes, all under the guidance of the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to ensure exceptional, equitable patient care. Specifically, this position is responsible for supporting nurse leadership in the planning, development, and execution of facility education for clinicians, supporting the on-boarding and orientation of newly hired registered nurses, career development, and effective internal clinical communications. It performs under the guidance and direction of the chief nursing officer or designee and serves as a liaison between all disciplines by effectively communicating, educating, and problem-solving. This role proactively supports the quality and continuity of services throughout the healthcare systems, assists in resolution of systems issues, and enforces facility/unit/department policy/procedures and standards of care. It coordinates oversight of quality, risk management, safety, and nursing standards, and acts as a role model and resource person for providing quality patient care and maintaining clinical competency within the facility/unit/department. The specialist collaborates with Clinical Education to coordinate and support the on-boarding and precepting of newly hired nurses, develops and coordinates system and facility initiatives to promote clinical career development and lateral nurse pathways, and may lead and implement facility clinical initiatives. This position contributes to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, safe care, and actively participates in the improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes, which may include participating in professional organizations.

Requirements

  • Possess an Associates degree.
  • Possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice.
  • BLS certification.
  • Minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting.
  • Possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of employment (for specific Behavioral Health clinical settings).
  • Sign an Arizona Criminal History Affidavit upon hire (for specific Behavioral Health clinical settings).
