More about our team Good Sam 6/Med-Surg is a 15-18-bed unit. Registered Nurses provide direct day-to-day care of patients and families. Practices to the fullest extent of his/her license following organizational policies. Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, functions as a member of the Patient Care Team in collaboration and implementation of the established patient's plan of care. Provides care based upon the age and developmental needs of adult and geriatric patients. Assigned responsibility and accountability for an individual or group of patients during a designated time frame. The nurse provides specialized care consistent with the policies, procedures, and standards of care and designated competencies. The nurse, in conjunction with the Nurse Manager, participates in performance excellence initiatives that are focused on improving patient care and outcomes. Registered Nurses work 12-hour shifts (7A and 7P).

Requirements

• Applicants should have a current state RN license and possess an associates or bachelor’s degree from an accredited nursing school.
• Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS Certification
• One-year acute care experience or other comparable nursing experience.

Nice To Haves

• ASLS certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Coordinates the Patient Care Team’s delivery of personalized, efficient care with respect for patient’s spiritual and cultural differences in accordance with the PA State Board of Nursing Licensure requirement and ANA Scope and Standards of Practice.
• Provides patient assessment throughout patient stay and participates in discharge planning while maintaining a therapeutic partnership with patient, family and caregivers.
• Implements the interventions identified in the established plan of care and collaborate with members of the Patient Care Team.
• Adheres to the 10 Rights of medication administration.
• Collaborates with physician as part of Interdisciplinary Team.
• Is knowledgeable regarding patient condition, completes patient assessment and reassessment, reports changes to the Physician.
• Reports patient’s status and anticipates situations that prevent/minimize adverse outcomes, promoting patient safety.
• Demonstrates annual RN competencies and specialized competencies as identified.
• Completes annual required education and CPR, and OSHA specific education.
• Completes yearly medication and dysrhythmia examination with a passing score greater than 86%.
• Maintains confidentiality of all patients, hospital, and employee-related information.
• Maintains accountability and productivity for appropriate staffing following the flexible-staffing plan.
• Attends and participates actively in briefs and huddles.
• Reads all updates and changes.
• Attends and participates as a minimum requirement of 6 staff meetings annually.
• Reads all staff meetings.
• Participates in Process Improvement utilizing Lean Six Sigma methodology to improve patient outcomes and Patient Satisfaction initiatives.
• Commitment to Common Ground Code of Conduct and to Service Excellence
• Demonstrates understanding and knowledge of patient’s rights and patient responsibilities.
• Actively participates with the development and implementation of unit specific evidenced- based initiatives to improve the outcome of nurse sensitive indicators.
• Attends educational sessions as directed by the nurse manager to gain knowledge about new treatment options, procedures, or equipment.
