About The Position

A tertiary care hospital is seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical / Telemetry Registered Nurse to support a complex care unit serving medical patients, orthopedic overflow, and long-term complex cases. The RN will deliver comprehensive patient care, monitor telemetry on the unit, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality outcomes.

Requirements

Active New York State RN license in hand (required; no exceptions)
Minimum 2 years of MS/Tele experience
Previous charge nurse experience required
Experience managing 1:6 patient ratios ; must be able to take 1:5–1:7 for Med-Surg
Proficiency with EPIC charting system
Ability to float to other qualified units as needed
Certifications BLS required

Responsibilities

Provide direct nursing care to MS/Tele patients with complex medical and orthopedic needs
Monitor and interpret telemetry data on the unit
Utilize Rapid Response and Code Teams appropriately
Manage pacemakers (temporary and permanent)
Perform and manage feeding tube care
Administer blood products and manage central lines, PICC lines, and peripheral IVs
Initiate IVs and manage heparin protocols
Provide care for orthopedic trauma and total joint replacement patients
Manage surgical drains and advanced oxygen delivery systems (HFNC, nasal cannula, face masks, portable oxygen tanks)
Perform tracheostomy care and management
Follow isolation precautions and provide wound care, including wound vac management
Document all care accurately using EPIC
