About The Position

Medical-Surgical / Telemetry Registered Nurse – MSTRN 26-00110 Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical-Surgical / Telemetry (MS/Tele) Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: MS/Tele Location: Rochester, NY 14626 Contract Duration: 13 weeks Orientation: 16 hours Schedule & Shift Shift: Night Shift Schedule: 3 × 12-hour shifts Hours: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM Weekends: Every other weekend required Block Scheduling: May be considered but not guaranteed On-Call: Not required Staffing & Ratios Day/Evening Ratio: 5:1 (may stretch to 6–7:1) Night Ratio: 6–7:1 (may stretch to 8–10:1 if staffing issues occur) Support Staff: Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) on all units for vitals, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and ADLs In-house phlebotomy team for peripheral lab draws RNs responsible for PICC lines and central lines Experience Requirements Minimum 1 year of MS/Tele RN experience First-time travelers accepted Local candidates not accepted (75-mile radius) Pending license not accepted Floating Requirements Floating required within scope to other Med-Surg units May float to ED boarders May float to ICU to care for stable patients only , if needed Required Certifications BLS (required) Time-Off Policy Maximum 1 week of RTO allowed during the contract Clinical Skills & Competencies (Required) Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias IV insulin protocols Heparin protocols Management of cardiac drips (no titration) Feeding tube care and management Chest tubes (Emerson / Pleur-evac) External CPAP / BiPAP High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) Tracheostomy care and management Wound care and wound vac management Patient Population & Diagnoses Infection Altered mental status Pain Increased level of care Equipment & Systems Telemetry monitoring EKG Charting System: Epic (required) Scrubs Any combination of navy and white COVID-19 Policy COVID-19 vaccination not required For more details reach at [email protected] or Call / Text at 518-862-1204.
