About The Position

The Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) position is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients by utilizing strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status, determine the priority of the patient’s problems and needs, and implement clinical nursing interventions to acute, critical patients that require intensive medical care. This role involves developing and performing patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes, and ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment. Essential functions include collaborating with the interdisciplinary care team, conducting initial and ongoing patient assessment, observing the surgery and surgical team from a broad perspective, assisting the team to create and maintain a safe and comfortable environment for the patient, managing the nursing care of the patient within the OR, coordinating the needs of the surgical team with other care providers, and providing pre-op, intra-op, and post-op care, including assessment and discharge instructions.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Associates degree or Bachelors degree in Nursing
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • BLS Basic Life Support (must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care)

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support or PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (preferred at hire, may be required within 6 months based on specific surgical department requirements)
  • CNOR Certified Perioperative Nurse
  • SGNA Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates
  • Two years of RN experience in Critical Care Department
  • Completion of OR internship program
  • Successful completion of Peri-op 101

  • Other duties as assigned
