About The Position

The Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) position at Anderson Hospital is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients. This involves utilizing strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status, determine the priority of patient problems and needs, and implement clinical nursing interventions for acute, critical patients requiring intensive medical care. The RN will develop and perform patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment. The role also includes collaborating with the interdisciplinary care team, conducting initial and ongoing patient assessments, observing the surgery and surgical team from a broad perspective, and assisting the team in maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for the patient. The RN manages the nursing care of the patient within the OR and coordinates the needs of the surgical team with other care providers, providing pre-op, intra-op, and post-op care, including assessment and discharge instructions.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Associates degree or Bachelors degree in Nursing
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
BLS Basic Life Support (must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care)
ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support or PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (may be required within 6 months based on specific surgical department requirements)

Nice To Haves

ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support or PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (preferred at hire)
CNOR Certified Perioperative Nurse (preferred, not required)
SGNA Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (preferred, not required)
Two years of RN experience in Critical Care Department (preferred, not required)
Completion of OR internship program (preferred, not required)
Successful completion of Peri-op 101 (preferred, not required)

Responsibilities

Utilizing strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status
