Registered Nurse (RN) - Intensive Care Nursery, (NICU)
About The Position
The Intensive Care Nursery (ICN) is a 30-bed unit dedicated to caring for acutely ill and premature infants from New Hampshire and parts of Vermont. The care model is patient and family-centered, encouraging family presence and participation as part of the care team. Nurses provide care to critically ill and convalescing infants with nurse-to-patient ratios ranging from 1:1 to 1:3. Primary nursing is promoted to enhance family satisfaction. The position offers numerous opportunities for professional growth, including participation in a unit-based practice council and quality improvement projects. Additionally, there is a two-person high-risk neonatal transport team that includes an ICN RN trained for this specialized care, alongside a respiratory care practitioner. This is a full-time position with 3x12hr rotating shifts (7a-7p, 7p-7a) covering all weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program required.
- Licensed Registered Nurse with New Hampshire eligibility.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate required upon hire.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) Certificate required within 6 months of hire date.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) optional; must maintain either BLS or PALS
Responsibilities
- Utilizes the nursing process to assess, diagnose, identify outcomes, plan, implement and evaluate an individualized plan of care.
- Utilizes critical thinking and the nursing process to anticipate and recognize changes in patient status, taking action to modify the plan of care or to elevate to the care team as necessary.
- Practices in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics to advocate for patients, uphold their autonomy in decision-making, ensure informed consent and assist patients in families in expressing self-determination.
