About The Position

UC Health is hiring a Full-time Registered Nurse (RN) for the endoscopy unit for the day shift at West Chester. The Endoscopy Unit is a robust and popular unit that serves both inpatient and outpatient populations, performing procedures such as EGD, Colonoscopy, ERCP, Bronchoscopy, and Endoscopic Ultrasounds. The Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills derived from biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate culturally based and age-specific patient care. West Chester Hospital provides access to a large group of specialized physicians, consistently ranks among the top 5% nationally for patient experiences and quality care, and features a Level III Trauma Center and a certified Primary Stroke Center. The Endoscopy Unit offers hands-on procedural experience, opportunities to grow nursing skills, and a strong sense of camaraderie and support among the team.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • Associate degree, minimum required
  • Current OH RN License
  • BLS, minimum required
  • 1 year RN experience, minimum required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
  • ACLS, preferred
  • 1 year Endoscopy, ICU, or PACU experience, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, implements, evaluates, revises and coordinates interdisciplinary plan of care for each assigned patient in a collaborative effort with the other healthcare team members and patient/family within the time frame indicated by unit's standards of practice.
  • Communicates formulated plan of care, as appropriate, to all levels of associates involved in the patient's care, and demonstrates ability to establish priorities of care based on patient's assessment and needs.
  • Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment, and involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment, and continuing care of the patient.
  • Identifies and responds appropriately to different patient needs resulting from behavioral health problems, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious/cultural norms.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking, accountability, flexibility, and a cooperative attitude in meeting the needs of the unit.
  • Nursing process is accurately and concisely documented, including evaluation of treatment and in accordance to hospital policy and procedure.
  • Acts as a resource person and mentor for new personnel, floater, and/or supplemental staff working on the unit.
  • Assumes responsibility for personal professional development and contributes to the professional development of peers, colleagues, and others.
