St. Elizabeth Healthcare is hiring a RN Cardiac Device Specialist for our Heart & Vascular Institute. Reports to the Operations Manager, the RN Cardiac Device Specialist is responsible for performing interrogations, interpretations and programming Pacemakers and Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators (ICD). Uses EMR (EPIC) software to enter patient data and provides reports for the physicians and patient medical record. A high standard of advanced clinical knowledge in dealing with patients with implanted devices is required. This position works closely with highly skilled staff, electrophysiologists and cardiologists to manage cardiac device needs.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited nursing program (RN, BSN, MSN)
  • Active, unencumbered multistate (compact) RN nursing license issued by a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state, specifically Kentucky, Indiana or Ohio.
  • Successful completed of ATI Jumpstart program within 12 months
  • 3 years of RN experience, one year “face to face” clinical cardiology and EP experience interpreting, programming and educating patients on medical devices such as pacemakers and defibrillators.
  • OR 3 years of RN experience and completion of Arrhythmia Technology Institute (ATI) Jumpstart Device Training Program within 12 months of start date (a signed condition of employment will be required)

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) - Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS) certification
  • Preferred knowledge and management of various processes related to implantable ICD’s, pacemakers, loop recorders and CRT/ICM cardiac devices.

Responsibilities

  • Provides evaluation and device management to patients under supervision to physician.
  • RN will conduct assessment of patient in the office post procedure.
  • Management of remote device checks, alerts, patient enrollment and equipment requests.
  • Collaborates with physicians and other members of the cardiac clinical team to determine device needs and recommendations for patients/clients.
  • Assist with departmental processes to ensure patient and process compliance.
  • Educates patients and families regarding device function, clinic follow-up scheduling and device home monitoring.
  • Maintains necessary CEU requirement for certification.
  • Other duties as assigned.
