Job Description: The Birth Center at Anna Jaques Hospital is a 12 bed, LDRP unit serving Newburyport and the surrounding Merrimack Valley. We offer private patient rooms with state-of-the-art technology, working closely with all disciplines and including our relationship with Beth Israel Lahey Health. We have 24/7 obstetrics and anesthesia coverage with a nursing staff of 45. We are a Baby Friendly Designated hospital with a strong focus on patient experience. The Birth Center Nurse supports the care of mothers and newborns. OB experience strongly preferred. Current Massachusetts Nursing Licensure required, with BSN prepared nurses preferred. Current BLS and NRP required within six-weeks of hire. Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • State of Massachusetts RN licensure (or eligibility)
  • BLS Certification
  • NRP
  • 2 years of LDRP experience strongly preferred

Nice To Haves

  • BSN prepared nurses preferred

Responsibilities

  • Advocates for patients and families to ensure positive patient care outcomes.
  • Documents all changes as well as relevant information regarding patient’s response to intervention, therapeutic regimens, and patient progress as it relates to plan of care and patient’s response to teaching.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, families' peers and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Includes patient, family, and caregivers in all aspects of care while ensuring that all explanations are understandable.
  • Cares for patients throughout the following phases of care: triage, labor, delivery, recovery, circulate and cesarean sections, postpartum and well newborn care.
  • Attends deliveries when appropriate.
  • Implements stabilization process according to NRP guidelines.
  • Responds effectively and professionally in a crisis situation.
  • Provides resources to assist patients and families with post-discharge needs.
