Requirements

  • Associate degree in nursing from an accredited program.
  • One (1) year of emergency room (ER), intensive care unit (ICU), or step-down unit (SDU) registered nursing experience.
  • Licensed as a registered nurse (RN) in accordance with Florida Statutes (F.S.), Title XXXII (Regulation of Professions and Occupations), Chapter 464 (Nursing), Part I (Nurse Practice Act) [includes multistate compact licensure].
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification and from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited program.
  • Two (2) or more years of ER, ICU, or SDU registered nursing experience.
  • Critical care (e.g., ER and/or ICU) nursing experience.
  • Interventional vascular experience.
  • Critical Care Register Nurse (CCRN) credential from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN).
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) credential from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
  • National Institutes of Health (NIH) Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification from the AHA.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible directly and indirectly for the patient care environment.
  • Provides care collaboratively with health care team members and autonomously applying the nursing process; leads, mentors, role models for other health care team members.
  • Coordinates and delegates care in a safe, secure, and clean environment.
  • Uses evidence-based practice and information technologies (while maintaining focus on providing comfort, relieving pain, and alleviating anxiety) to assist in diagnostic and interventional peripheral vascular, minor surgical procedures (e.g., interventional neurovascular and pain management procedures, chemo-embolizations, yttrium-90 (Y-90) radio-embolizations, abscess drain placements, paracentesis, thoracentesis, kyphoplasties, vertebroplasties, gastrostomy tube (g-tube) placements, nephrostomy tube placements, inferior vena cava (IVC) filter insertions and removals, trans-jugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPSS) placements, trans-jugular liver biopsies, sclerotherapies, Pleurx placements, cholecystostomy drains, and biliary drains).
  • Displays respect for patients' rights, dignity, values, confidentiality, and expressed needs in provided care.
