About The Position

The Resource RN has the responsibility and accountability for the coordination of clinical activities and patient care twenty-four hours a day, three hundred and sixty-five days a year. Develops and sustains an environment that promotes excellence in clinical practice and customer satisfaction, while striving for optimal efficiency, productivity and utilization of all resources.

Requirements

  • RN Massachusetts license required
  • Three (3) years of related experience
  • ASN required
  • Current Basic Life Support Certification required
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care across acute care units according to established nursing standards, scope of practice, and hospital policies.
  • Rapidly assess patient conditions and intervene appropriately, escalating concerns to providers and leadership as needed.
  • Support safe patient assignments by temporarily assuming care, completing critical tasks, such as initiating or completing admissions, discharges, and transfers.
  • Serve as an expert resource for high-acuity patients, complex clinical procedures, or emerging clinical concerns. Adapt quickly to evolving situations and provide leadership presence during emergencies, incidents, or facility-wide needs.
  • Ensure adherence to evidence-based practice, infection prevention standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide “as needed” support for procedures, transport, complex dressing changes, or time-sensitive patient care activities.
  • Offer real-time support to bedside nurses, including troubleshooting IV access, central line care, wound care, medication administration challenges, and deteriorating patient situations.
  • Mentor and coach novice nurses, float staff, and new team members to reinforce best practices and clinical confidence.
  • Partner with charge nurses to balance workload, manage patient flow, and assist during surges, codes, rapid responses, or other high-acuity events.
  • Promote a positive team culture and contribute to staff engagement, retention, and professional development.
  • Perform additional tasks, support activities, or operational duties in collaboration with and at the discretion of the Nursing Supervisor, based on real-time patient care needs, staffing demands, safety concerns, or organizational priorities.
