Registered Nurse (Residential Services)

In this role, you’ll provide clinical oversight and support across our 10 residential homes, serving individuals with complex needs, including Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and significant medical challenges. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring each individual receives safe, consistent, and high-quality care in a home environment that promotes dignity and independence. This is a highly collaborative, hands-on position. You’ll work closely with residential staff, leadership, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate care, provide training, and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations. From developing care plans to responding to medical needs and coaching staff, your expertise will help create safe and supportive homes where individuals can thrive. Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school for Registered Nurses.
  • Current Rhode Island Department of Health license for a Registered Nurse.
  • Active CPR certification.
  • Current Rhode Island Driving License with a good driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of experience with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
  • Developmental Disabilities Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrating proper assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of client care through the utilization of the nursing process.
  • Continuously evaluate the client’s condition accurately and take suitable actions in response.
  • Administer medications and treatments by all laws, regulations, and rules of the state of Rhode Island and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Keep the documentation current and accurate for the individual’s medical history and current health status. This includes medical status notes, yearly nursing summaries, medical evaluations, and other relevant documentation.
  • Capability to record daily tasks to ensure correct billing to appropriate programs according to licensing standards.
  • Reviews and processes consumer injury and medication error reports.
  • Responsible for overseeing medical quality assurance regarding the care of individuals supported by the agency.
  • Ordering medical equipment on an as needed basis.
  • Responsible for conducting in home, office, and telehealth visits.
  • Responsible for correctly transcribing and implementing physicians’ orders promptly.
  • Administers emergency first aid immediately and accurately, when needed.
  • Trains individuals and staff as necessary, providing appropriate health and wellness information.
  • Responsible for overseeing and administering Medication Passing training to certify Direct Support staff.
  • Demonstrates ability and appropriate technical skills when administering treatments and procedures by physicians’ orders and agencies policies and procedures.
  • Provides direct patient care when necessary, including emergency first aid.
  • Respect the confidentiality and privacy of the individuals supported by the agency, communicate courteously and professionally to individuals supported, family and guardians, and colleagues, and have the ability to work as an effective member in a team environment.
  • Perform all other relevant tasks as assigned.
