Schedule: Monday & Wednesday 8AM-2PM Registered Nurse Radiology Procedures/IR Unit at Baylor Scott & White Orthopedic and Spine Hospital – Arlington: · The interventional radiology nurse is responsible for implementing the pre-operative admission assessment record, patient education, assimilation of the patient’s hospital record, and obtaining history and physical from ordering physician’s office. · The nurse is also responsible for implementing the nursing process performing needed testing, providing patient safety, comfort and privacy at all times. · The RN will interface with visitors, patients, family, physicians and radiology staff on the phone and in person. · The nurse will assist in screening patients for Myleogram and other interventional radiology exams by obtaining a list of medications and completing Patient History/Pre-Op assessment form via telephone or in person. · The nurse will explain the procedure, answer questions and give instructions for holding medications, if needed, and provide pre and post procedure education · The nurse is responsible for implementing the Pre-Operative Admission Assessment record and the assimilation of the patients’ hospital record. · The RN is also responsible for implementing the nursing process performing assessment, reassessment, sedation monitoring and related needed testing and providing patient safety, comfort, and privacy at all times. · Manages acute and chronic pain on all patients but especially post procedure or surgical patients to assist in alleviating suffering and improving healing. · Delivers medication based upon continual assessment, safety, and evaluation of patient response. · Assesses and Reassesses the patient’s condition and accordingly sets the plan of care including evaluating the patient’s adaptation to the care treatment, responsiveness to care and readiness for discharge. · Demonstrates knowledge and skill level necessary to assess patient’s psychosocial, educational and physical needs, as well as the ability to address these needs in an age appropriate manner in the pediatric, adolescent, adult and/ or geriatric patient population. · Responds quickly and appropriately to emergency situations. · Identifies educational needs, implements and evaluates learning and documents patient / family education. · Follows all documentation policies. · Supports department operations as needed. This may include assisting with nurse driven patient care between transferring departments, assisting in monitoring patient vitals across multiple imaging modalities including MRI, medication administration at the direction of the Radiologist, IV starts, and other Nursing responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current Texas Nursing License.
  • Current CPR, ACLS
  • Minimum 2 years’ clinical experience in an RN in hospital setting.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written. Good organization habits.
  • Ability to make decisions based on nursing judgment.
  • Able to prioritize and organize workload to meet needs of patients and unit.
  • Understands principles of aseptic technique and their implementation
  • Ability to care for patients of all ages
  • Excellent teaching skills
  • Ability to utilize electronic health care record for patient documentation
  • Ability to adapt to change quickly
  • Strong knowledge base relative to surgery procedures and management of surgical patients

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in interventional radiology nursing procedures preferred
