About The Position
The Registered Nurse Pre Admissions Testing at Baylor Surgicare Waxahachie: The Preadmission Nurse (PAT RN) has the responsibility for organizing and directing activities in accordance with nursing standards. PAT RN may assume the following PAT responsibilities: contact, by way of telephone, all patients prior to surgery to assess medical and medication history, review for appropriate lab, x-ray, EKG orders to determine where and when these procedures are to completed and provide preadmission teaching. The RN can expect to care for adult patients, including the older adult through geriatric. The RN may perform laboratory testing required prior to surgery as ordered
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing
- Active RN license in the state
- Must have at least 1-3 years' previous experience in PreOP/PACU
- Demonstrates clinical competency, leadership, and teaching capabilities.
- Ability to make decisions based on nursing judgment
- Strong communication skills, verbal and written
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center strongly preferred
