The Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is a specialized hospital unit where patients are closely monitored and cared for immediately following surgical or procedural interventions requiring anesthesia. The PACU is critical for ensuring patient safety and comfort during the initial recovery period, addressing potential complications, and transitioning patients to the next phase of care. Description RN PACU: Assessment of patients’ needs. Development of patient care plans Provision of direct care. Management of patient care delivery. Demonstrate leadership skills. Support for quality care. Customer relations and healing environment. On call requirement weekends/holidays picked by rotation. Operating Room Nurses provide care and support to patients before, during and after surgery. Clinical decision-making incorporates all four phases of the nursing process, critical thinking and creativity. Must possess ability to supervise and delegate appropriate work to Patient Care Techs, Licensed Practical Nurses, Unit Secretaries, and Students.
