RN – Surgery Outpatient Position Summary Provides direct patient care in the outpatient surgical setting using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Reports to the Director of Surgical Services. Essential Functions Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities. Documents patient care provided. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family. Performs all areas of perioperative care to include pre-op, intra-op and post-op Evaluates learning needs of patients and families; provides education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances. Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients. Participates in performance improvement and continuing education. Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts/units as needed. Maintains regular and reliable attendance. Performs other duties as assigned. Additional Information Patient Populations Served: Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, Older Adult. Protected Health Information Accessed: Demographic, Clinical, Insurance, Financial, Complete Medical Record. Exposure: Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is present; may involve contact with patients, blood, body fluids, or specimens. Physical Requirements: Frequent standing, walking, lifting/moving patients, kneeling, and repetitive hand/arm movements. Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards, including blood and bodily fluids, hazardous medications, and latex.
