About The Position

JOB SUMMARY Provides direct and indirect patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Meets the physical, psychosocial, religious/cultural and needs of the patient and family. Communicates effectively with all members of the health care team as appropriate about changes in the patient’s condition or response to treatment. Basic PC skills. Able to work on smoke-free campus. Able to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations. JOB REQUIREMENTS - Minimum Education Associate’s degree is required Bachelor’s degree is preferred - Required Licenses: Registered Nurse Registered Nurse in North Carolina is required (or compact state) - BLS within 30 days of hire - ACLS within 90 days of hire Required Skills 1 year of experience in a health care setting is preferred On-call per policy ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Performs duties as assigned and requested. 2. Completes a focused patient assessment with reassessments 3. Based on patients condition, procedures, medications given and treatments. 4. Adequately assesses and reassesses pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. 5. Performs patient care and communicates effectively with patients of all ages and specific needs. 6. Demonstrates knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on the age of the patient and the patient’s clinical condition. Follows the 6 rights of medication administration to reduce the potential for medication errors. 7. Assists physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills. 8. Performs treatments and provides services to the level of licensure. 9. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes 10. Patient safety and reduces the likelihood of errors. 11. Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly. 12. Educates patient and family on disease process. NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Other duties as assigned. ORGANIZATIONAL EXPECTATIONS 1. Provides a positive and professional representation of the organization. 2. Promotes a culture of safety for patients and employees through proper identification, reporting, documentation and prevention. 3. Maintains hospital and clinic standards for a clean and quiet patient environment to maintain a positive patient care experience. 4. Maintains competency and knowledge of current standards of practice, trends, and developments in related scope of role or practice. 5. Maintains compliance with organization’s policies, as well as established practices, protocols, and procedures of the position, department, and applicable professional standards 6. Complies with organizational and regulatory policies for handling confidential patient information 7. Demonstrates excellent customer service through his/her attitude and actions, consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission, and Values of the organization 8. Adheres to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and TJC standards and/or standards from other accrediting bodies.
