The Adult Organ Transplant Unit at University Hospital is a 33-bed unit specializing in the care of various organ transplant recipients, including kidney, liver, pancreas, intestine, or multi-visceral abdominal transplants. The unit is described as high-functioning and fosters collaboration among various disciplines. Ideal candidates are expected to demonstrate strong initiative, compassion, and integrity.

Requirements

• Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN)
• Must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program (candidates without a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience, subject to CNO review and approval)
• Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license
• Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA
• Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies

• Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred

Responsibilities

• Care for patients that have received kidney, liver, pancreas, intestine, or multi-visceral abdominal transplants
• Collaborate between various disciplines
• Manage drips
• Administer transplant medication
