About The Position

The Unit RN performs services requiring substantial specialized knowledge, judgment and skill for carrying out the nursing regimen in support of medical care, based upon the principles of the biological, physiological, behavioral, and social sciences. The Licensed Practical Nurse performs services requiring substantial specialized knowledge, judgment and skill for carrying out selected aspects of the designated nursing regiment under the direction of a RN. Memory Care is designed to meet the changing needs of individuals as they experience the progression of symptoms and increases in cognitive loss associated with a diagnosis of dementia. Our early-stage program offers activity-based care in a warm, supportive and safe environment with a primary goal of helping individuals maintain dignity, purpose and functional ability. This highly specialized unit is staffed with very dedicated advocates and team members. Residents in this unit are the most vulnerable, usually unable to advocate for themselves. Helen Porter Rehabilitation & Nursing is a welcoming, secure residence where loved ones are assured of skilled nursing care and assistance with daily living and where privacy is honored and individuality respected. Nestled in the farmlands of Middlebury, Helen Porter has accommodations for 105 people, is licensed by the state of Vermont and certified by Medicare and Medicaid. Helen Porter is a skilled and intermediate care residence which specializes in providing a home-like environment. The University of Vermont Health Network/Porter Medical Center is located in the heart of beautiful Middlebury, Vermont. We are comprised of a 25-bed acute care facility, a 98-bed skilled nursing facility which includes a memory care unit, short-term rehabilitation unit and a long-term care unit, and a network of primary care and specialty medical practices throughout Addison county and the town of Brandon.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the State of Vermont required.
  • Gerontological nursing and knowledge of supervision techniques preferred.
  • Able to read, write, and speak the English language.
  • Demonstrate competence as a nursing practitioner.
  • BLS certification
  • Current LPN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the State of Vermont required.
  • Gerontological nursing and knowledge of supervision techniques preferred.
  • Able to read, write, and speak the English language.
  • Demonstrate competence as a nursing practitioner.
  • BLS certification
