About The Position

Sentara RMH is seeking a full-time registered nurse for its main operating room, specializing in general surgery. Operating room nurses primarily circulate in 14 operating rooms and 2 procedure rooms, performing non-sterile tasks such as charting or gathering equipment. Nurses are also cross-trained to scrub in and assist surgery teams as needed. This is a day shift position with a moderate to heavy call requirement. Requirements

  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (required)
  • Registered Nurse (required)
  • Will give consideration to upcoming graduates from an RN program

  • Previous operating room experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Primarily circulate the 14 operating rooms and 2 procedure rooms as the non-sterile person to complete charting or gather equipment if needed
  • Be dual trained to scrub in and assist surgery teams as needed
  • Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process
  • Meet standards as required by specific clinical areas
  • Encompass actions and foundation of professional nursing through standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) and professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health)
