About The Position

This Registered Nurse (RN) position is for the Observation Department at Texas Health Fort Worth, located at 1301 Pennsylvania Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76104. The work hours are PRN, Rotating, requiring at least 1 shift per 6-week schedule, covering both 7:00 am – 7:00 pm and 7:00 pm - 7:00 am. The department features self-scheduling for work/life balance and opportunities for educational and career growth, a robust Unit Based Council (UBC), and an engaged leadership team. It is a fast-paced 23-bed Observation Unit with an average patient stay of 24-48 hours, primarily serving patients with conditions such as chest pain/rule out, MI, COPD, Dehydration, Syncope, UTI, hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia, allergic reaction, and cellulitis.

Requirements

  • Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program or Nursing Diploma required
  • One-year experience as a clinical nurse in acute care setting required
  • RN must practice within the regulations of the Texas Nurse Practice Act, serve as a role model, intra/interdisciplinary collaborator and coordinator for quality patient care
  • BLS prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
  • ACLS within 90 days of hire required
  • CPI within 90 days of hire required

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred
  • One year of Emergency experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
  • Assesses the patient
  • Plans the care of the patient
  • Intervenes as appropriate
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
  • Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care
  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
  • Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers
