About the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit (Deaconess 4) Our 25-bed Inpatient Psychiatric Unit at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center provides compassionate, patient-centered care for adults experiencing acute mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, psychosis, or crisis situations. Our dedicated team works in a supportive, collaborative environment focused on helping patients stabilize, heal, and prepare for a safe transition back to their communities. As part of a renowned academic medical center and the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, our unit combines evidence-based treatment with a deeply empathetic approach. Nurses on Deaconess 4 are valued members of an interdisciplinary team that includes psychiatrists, social workers, and therapists who work together to develop individualized care plans that meet each patient’s unique needs. This is an excellent opportunity for nurses who are passionate about behavioral health and interested in growing their expertise in psychiatric nursing while working in a dynamic teaching and research setting. The unit also supports patients with co-occurring medical conditions, utilizing the full resources of our hospital to ensure comprehensive, high-quality care. Role Summary Registered Nurses on Deaconess 4 provide direct patient care and education using the nursing process to promote recovery and wellness. The Clinical Nurse I utilizes the nursing process as the frame of reference for practice as a professional registered nurse and provides direct patient care to patients and families.
