About the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit (Deaconess 4) Our 25-bed Inpatient Psychiatric Unit at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center provides compassionate, patient-centered care for adults experiencing acute mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, psychosis, or crisis situations. Our dedicated team works in a supportive, collaborative environment focused on helping patients stabilize, heal, and prepare for a safe transition back to their communities. As part of a renowned academic medical center and the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, our unit combines evidence-based treatment with a deeply empathetic approach. Nurses on Deaconess 4 are valued members of an interdisciplinary team that includes psychiatrists, social workers, and therapists who work together to develop individualized care plans that meet each patient’s unique needs. Role Summary Registered Nurses on Deaconess 4 provide direct patient care and education using the nursing process to promote recovery and wellness. Job Description: The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process as the frame of reference for practice as a professional registered nurse and provides direct nursing care to patients and families.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required.
1-3 years related work experience required.
License Registered Nurse required.
American Heart Association – Basic Life support Certificate required.

Employees in this job must be competent to provide patient care to the following age groups: Neonatal:Birth to 6 months, Young adult: 16-30 years, Middle Age: 30 - 60 years, Elderly: 60 - over.
Work requires periods of close attention to work with out interruption. Concentrated effort of up to 4 hours without break may be required.
Work requires constant response to changing circumstances and using new information to adjust approach and to quickly respond to new needs.
Potential exposure to adverse environmental conditions o Daily: Protective equipment required(Respirator,earplugs,mask,gloves,eyewear etc), Potential exposure to infectious diseases and/or airborne pathogens, Potential exposure to infectious diseases and/or bloodborne pathogens.
HCW1: Regular, day-to-day contact; both face-to-face and hands-on (having close contact within three feet for at least five minutes). Examples: physicians, clinical nurses, phlebotomist, medical assistants, PFT tech, and x-ray tech.- Health Care Worker Status may vary by department

Baccalaureate degree in Nursing strongly preferred.
