The purpose of this Registered Nurse position is to protect and promote health, prevent illness and injury, and alleviate suffering through nursing diagnosis and treatment. Requirements

  • CA RN license
  • BLS
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Provider within six months of hire/transfer

  • Support nurse preceptors and new employees during orientation (Team Leader role)

  • Assure float staff receive orientation to the floor and feel welcome (Team Leader role)
  • Manage Staff and Patient flow: Make and adjust staff assignments based on the abilities of staff and needs of the patient population (Team Leader role)
  • Assign admissions and arrange transfers in coordination with the Nurse Manager, House Supervisor and/or Bed Coordinator (Team Leader role)
  • Assure that shift report starts on time (Team Leader role)
  • Monitor breaks to provide adequate staffing (Team Leader role)
  • Determine staffing needs for the next shift and communicate those needs to the Staff Facilitator or Nursing Supervisor (Team Leader role)
  • Assign staff to ensure equipment checks are completed: PCX controls, crash cart, refrigerator temps, red books and narcotic counts (Team Leader role)
  • Coordinate care in high-risk/emergent situations and keep Nurse Manager/Director/Nursing Supervisor aware of critical patients and any unit issues (Team Leader role)
  • Ensure collaboration between staff, physicians, other providers, and departments involved in the care of patients on their unit (Team Leader role)
  • Keep lines of communication open (Team Leader role)
  • Ensure patient care issues are documented and reported (Team Leader role)
  • Assure the appropriate nurse completes a Statement of Concern (Team Leader role)
  • Understand and utilize Medical Staff and Kaweah Health's chain of command (Team Leader role)
  • Provide employee guidance and alert the Nurse Manager of counseling needs (Team Leader role)
  • Provide patient care as needed (Team Leader role)
  • Make fiscally responsible decisions regarding staffing and use of patient supplies (Team Leader role)
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area
  • Be knowledgeable of growth and development for all patient/family cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender, and age specific needs
  • Be able to effectively communicate and care for patient and family as reflected in the Plan for Provision of Care
  • Perform other duties as assigned
