About The Position

This full-time night position is for a Registered Nurse in the Neonatal ICU/NICU at Texas Health Ft. Worth, a MAGNET facility and Maternal Level IV Designated facility. The Women’s Center at Texas Health Ft. Worth has been named “Best Place to Have a Baby.” The role involves participation in a transition/training program. The work schedule is 36 hours/week, from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, with weekend, holiday, and on-call requirements (12 hours in a 6-week schedule). The Neonatal ICU department offers self-scheduling for work/life balance and opportunities for educational and career growth. As a regional referral center for high-risk deliveries, Texas Health Fort Worth provides advanced services for complex and high-risk infants, with over 600 NICU admissions per year. The 63-bed Level III Neonatal ICU/NICU utilizes skills such as Bubble CPAP, Conventional Ventilator, Oscillators, and JETs (high-frequency). The Level III NICU is staffed 24 hours a day by neonatologists, pediatric sub-specialists, neonatal nurse practitioners, and skilled registered nurses dedicated to providing experienced care to babies with special health needs.

Requirements

  • Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program OR (RN) Nursing Diploma
  • Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency (CLIAFE)
  • Three (3) months experience as a Registered Nurse and acceptance into a THR transitional program Required
  • RN – Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required
  • BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required
  • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 90 days is required
  • NRPA - Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 90 Days Required
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 Days Required

Nice To Haves

  • BSN is preferred
  • Neonatal ICU Level III RN experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
  • Assesses the patient
  • Plans the care of the patient
  • Intervenes as appropriate
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
  • Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care
  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
  • Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers
