About The Position

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health opened its doors this April as the first new full-service hospital in Washington, DC in more than 25 years! Integrating clinical care with existing community providers, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC’s), The George Washington University Hospital, and our Urgent Care Center in Ward 8, this enhanced integrated delivery system will establish a robust network of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it will ensure residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community. Our advanced hospital will offer 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a verified trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and newborn delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for clinic visits and other outpatient services, onsite 550-car parking garage, and a helipad for emergency transport. Much more is available at: https://cedarhillregional.com/ We are seeking an experienced Medical Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse (Full Time-Nights) Our ideal candidate is a dynamic and compassionate Registered Nurse who delivers high-quality, patient-centered care across both medical-surgical and telemetry settings. This individual is responsible for the comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care, ensuring safe and effective outcomes aligned with best practices and regulatory standards. The RN demonstrates strong clinical judgment and critical thinking, coupled with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and build meaningful relationships with patients and their families. Success in this role requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment while maintaining professionalism, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence.

Requirements

  • Valid DC RN license.
  • 2 years of acute care experience required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused during high-pressure situations.
  • Commitment to upholding the highest standards of patient care and safety.
  • Demonstrate a proven track record of commitment, with the ability to sustain employment for a minimum of two years. This requirement underscores our dedication to fostering long-term relationships with our team members and ensuring stability within our organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs comprehensive patient assessments and develops individualized plans of care based on clinical findings and patient needs
  • Implements and evaluates nursing interventions to ensure optimal patient outcomes across medical-surgical and telemetry populations
  • Monitors cardiac rhythms and recognizes, interprets, and responds appropriately to changes in patient condition
  • Administers medications, treatments, and therapies in accordance with physician orders, hospital policies, and nursing standards
  • Collaborates with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate and optimize patient care
  • Provides patient and family education to support understanding of diagnoses, treatment plans, discharge instructions, and disease management
  • Documents all aspects of patient care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment by adhering to infection prevention, safety, and regulatory guidelines
  • Prioritizes and manages multiple patients effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
  • Responds to emergencies and participates in rapid response and code situations as needed
  • Supports patient throughput and flow by facilitating timely admissions, transfers, and discharges
  • Serves as a patient advocate, ensuring respect, dignity, and culturally competent care at all times
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and performance improvement activities
  • Precepts and mentors new staff and/or students as appropriate
  • Demonstrates accountability for professional growth, maintaining required competencies, certifications, and continuing education
