Requirements

  • An active Registered Nurse license with the State of Alaska is required.
  • Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in geriatric or long-term care nursing preferred.
  • Strong communication skills including verbal, written, and computer documentation abilities.
  • Ability to calculate dosages, complete medication administration test, and follow clinical protocols.
  • Must maintain required CEUs and demonstrate competency in medication and IV therapy.
  • Skilled in using EMR and ancillary systems (e.g., Pyxis) and adhering to proper infection control practices.
  • Flexibility, patience, compassion, and strong organizational skills are essential.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and perform tasks involving prolonged walking, standing, stooping, and sitting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing assessments and direct care using best practices.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and therapies while monitoring residents' conditions.
  • Supervise, guide, and coordinate care with LPNs, CNAs, and support staff on assigned shifts.
  • Document care and respond to changes in residents' status in accordance with facility, state, and federal regulations.
  • Participate in resident admissions, discharges, care planning, and quality improvement processes.
