Excellence in Complex Medical, Cardiac, and Stroke Care 2 South at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital is a high-acuity, 18-bed telemetry unit specializing in the care of complex medical patients with cardiac conditions and stroke-related diagnoses . Our team delivers evidence-based, compassionate care to a diverse patient population with a wide range of co-existing conditions, including cardiac arrhythmias, acute myocardial infarction, heart failure, and stroke . As a designated stroke unit , we utilize rigorous monitoring protocols, including the NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), to ensure timely and precise care. Clinical Highlights: Advanced Cardiac Care: Management of complex cardiac patients requiring high-risk medications such as amiodarone, cardizem, tikosyn, sotalol, and milrinone. Heart Failure Management: Focused, compassionate care for patients with chronic heart failure, supporting stabilization and transition to post-acute care. Acute MI Care: Rapid intervention and stabilization for acute myocardial infarction (MI) patients, with transitions to cardiac rehabilitation when appropriate. Stroke Monitoring and Management: Specialized stroke care including close neurological monitoring and NIHSS assessments.
