About The Position

Beloit Health System is adding to our team in our Intermediate Care/Cardiac Stepdown Unit with immediate openings for a Registered Nurse at Beloit Memorial Hospital. In this position the Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse will plan, coordinate, supervise, and provide care for patients throughout their lifespan withing the framework of well/illness continuum. This includes optimal service in a cost-effective manner. The Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse has additional training to interpret cardiac telemetry monitoring and respond to rapid changes in patient cardiac conditions effectively and accurately. Appropriately assesses basic physical, psychological, and socials needs of the patients and their families. Provides nursing care to patients with complex medical conditions including cardiac rhythm disturbances, Cerebral Vascular Attacks, Peritoneal Dialysis, and other comorbidities. Effectively plans patient care and c onsistently implements the patient's plan of care. Accurately evaluates patient's health status in relation to outcomes of nursing interventions/medical therapies. Provides patient/family education appropriately. Strictly adheres to infection control policies including body substance isolation and blood born pathogen precautions. Actively participates in Quality Improvement program. Performs unit specific duties according to established unit-based competencies. Completes documentation according to policy. Effectively sets goals and priorities for provision of care to a group of patients according to acuity. Accurately interprets cardiac telemetry every 4 hours and responds to changes in patient condition. Ensures patient safety while handling, transporting and providing medications to patients; protects patients from various hazards, falls, disease exposure, etc. Demonstrates ability to perform functions accurately and efficiently with computer software application appropriate to position. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing. ADN, Diploma, BSN, or MSN degree acceptable.
  • State of Wisconsin nursing licensure, compact license or temporary permit required. (If a compact license, application for a State of Wisconsin nursing license must be initiated in no more than 30 days from start date).
  • Must be CPR/BLS certified within 3 months of hire.
  • Must be ACLS certified within 6 months of hire and NIHSS stroke certified within 1 year of hire.
  • Cardiac Telemetry course completion within 6 months of hire.
  • Peritoneal Dialysis training within 1 year.
  • Maintains required CEUs and education requirements annually.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply proper procedures to Beloit Health System policies.
  • Employee possesses the training, knowledge, and skills necessary to perform the following activities (evaluation, treatment, and patient care) for patients in one or more of the following age groups: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
  • Successful completion of pre-placement physical examination.
  • Involves physical effort that includes full range of body motion which includes standing, walking for extensive periods of time. Also assists with lifting patients up to 25 pounds weight, pushing transport carts ranging in weight of 50-200 pounds.
  • Required to have manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires to see and hear at a level sufficient to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Requires working in sometimes stressful conditions or irregular hours.
  • Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
