About The Position

Beloit Health System is adding to our team in our Intermediate Care/Cardiac Stepdown Unit with immediate openings for a Registered Nurse at Beloit Memorial Hospital. In this position, the Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse will plan, coordinate, supervise, and provide care for patients throughout their lifespan within the framework of well/illness continuum, ensuring optimal service in a cost-effective manner. The Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse has additional training to interpret cardiac telemetry monitoring and respond to rapid changes in patient cardiac conditions effectively and accurately. This role involves appropriately assessing basic physical, psychological, and social needs of patients and their families, and providing nursing care to patients with complex medical conditions including cardiac rhythm disturbances, Cerebral Vascular Attacks, Peritoneal Dialysis, and other comorbidities.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing (ADN, Diploma, BSN, or MSN degree acceptable)
  • State of Wisconsin nursing licensure, compact license or temporary permit required (If a compact license, application for a State of Wisconsin nursing license must be initiated in no more than 30 days from start date)
  • CPR/BLS certified within 3 months of hire
  • ACLS certified within 6 months of hire
  • NIHSS stroke certified within 1 year of hire
  • Cardiac Telemetry course completion within 6 months of hire
  • Peritoneal Dialysis training within 1 year
  • Maintain required CEUs and education requirements annually
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply proper procedures to Beloit Health System policies
  • Possess the training, knowledge, and skills necessary to perform evaluation, treatment, and patient care for patients in one or more of the following age groups: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric
  • Successful completion of pre-placement physical examination
  • Involves physical effort that includes full range of body motion which includes standing, walking for extensive periods of time
  • Assists with lifting patients up to 25 pounds weight
  • Pushing transport carts ranging in weight of 50-200 pounds
  • Required to have manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination
  • Requires to see and hear at a level sufficient to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Requires working in sometimes stressful conditions or irregular hours
  • Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, supervise, and provide care for patients throughout their lifespan within the framework of well/illness continuum
  • Interpret cardiac telemetry monitoring and respond to rapid changes in patient cardiac conditions effectively and accurately
  • Appropriately assess basic physical, psychological, and social needs of the patients and their families
  • Provide nursing care to patients with complex medical conditions including cardiac rhythm disturbances, Cerebral Vascular Attacks, Peritoneal Dialysis, and other comorbidities
  • Effectively plan patient care and consistently implement the patient's plan of care
  • Accurately evaluate patient's health status in relation to outcomes of nursing interventions/medical therapies
  • Provide patient/family education appropriately
  • Strictly adhere to infection control policies including body substance isolation and blood borne pathogen precautions
  • Actively participate in Quality Improvement program
  • Perform unit specific duties according to established unit-based competencies
  • Complete documentation according to policy
  • Effectively set goals and priorities for provision of care to a group of patients according to acuity
  • Accurately interpret cardiac telemetry every 4 hours and respond to changes in patient condition
  • Ensure patient safety while handling, transporting and providing medications to patients; protect patients from various hazards, falls, disease exposure, etc.
  • Demonstrate ability to perform functions accurately and efficiently with computer software application appropriate to position
  • Other duties as assigned
