About The Position

The Surgery Department at Mount Carmel East has 13 operating rooms, with 3 dedicated to trauma. Surgical specialties include Level II Trauma care, Orthopedic Surgery, Urology, Neurosurgery (Cranial and Spinal), General Surgery, ENT, GYN, Dental, Plastics, Colorectal, and Robotic Surgery. The department averages 25 cases per day, cares for the adult patient population, and is staffed 24-7-365, focusing heavily on work-life balance. This full-time position includes evening, night, and weekend on-call duties. The Registered Nurse (RN), operating within the scope of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, will provide patient care in an atmosphere sensitive to each person’s physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. The RN collaborates in a spirit of teamwork and is accountable for delivering patient care using the Nursing Process, adhering to the Organization's standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Requirements

Graduate from school of nursing.
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
All new graduate nurses with less than one (1) year of clinical experience are subject to participate and will be automatically enrolled in the Nurse Residency Program.

Responsibilities

Provides nursing care, ensures an environment of patient safety, promotes evidence-based practice and quality initiatives and exhibits professionalism in nursing practice within the model of the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®.
Assesses and evaluates patient care for an assigned group of patients, utilizing evidence based practice.
Collaborates with patient and family to develop and implement a plan of care that includes physical, spiritual and educational components.
Accurately communicates pertinent information to appropriate team members in a timely manner.
Keeps patient/family apprised/updated.
Documents accurately and completely pertinent assessments, interventions and outcomes for patients in accordance with documentation standards, policies, procedures and/or guidelines.
Assumes responsibility and accountability for care provided and documented by other licensed and unlicensed care givers as appropriate.
