Registered Nurse II - Summey Medical Pavilion 23-Hour Observation Unit
About The Position
The Pediatric and Adult 23-Hour Observation Unit is a low-acuity, 5-bed unit that provides short-term care for both pediatric and adult patients requiring overnight monitoring or postoperative observation. Typical patients are stable, recovering from minor surgical procedures. Team members provide focused assessments, patient and family education, and coordination of safe discharge planning within a 23-hour stay window. This position offers a balanced schedule with no weekends, holidays, or on-call requirements, supporting strong work–life balance while delivering high-quality, compassionate care.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred.
- RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date. Refer to policy A141 for more details.
- A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse required.
- Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

- Delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results.
