The Clinical Nurse II, Oncology is a Registered Nurse responsible for delivering direct care to assigned Oncology patients in an ambulatory setting. This role involves utilizing standards of care, approved policies and procedures, and appropriate decision-making skills to independently and safely manage routine patient assignments. The Clinical Nurse II establishes a plan of care, sets goals, determines priorities, and provides care within established standards of practice.

Requirements

Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) required
Valid CA RN license required
BLS Certification from American Heart Association (AHA) required
ACLS Certification from American Heart Association (AHA) required
1 year acute care experience in a specialty required
For Infusion Center: ONS Chemo/Immunotherapy Certified required

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
For Imaging Dept: 2 years of critical care experience (i.e. ED, PACU, ICU, Cath Lab, IR) preferred

Responsibilities

Assesses appropriately patient care needs and learning needs in routine oncology patient populations
Reviews lab diagnostic data and incorporates in assessment
Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) monitoring to maintain or improve care of Oncology patient population
Plans patient care and education based on disease process, anticipated patient outcomes, complications of treatment, and psycho-social needs in collaboration with other healthcare team members
Initiates and follows through with appropriate referrals to other interdisciplinary healthcare team members
Demonstrates competency in use of technical skills as required (i.e., IV therapy equipment utilization, universal precautions, body mechanics)
Establish IV access utilizing peripheral or central catheters per protocol. Drug should only be prepared once an IV access is established and labs verified
Administer IV therapy as ordered by MD
Assists as a chaperone when needed upon completion of the required Chaperone Training
