About The Position

Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse II assists at the advanced beginner level in providing individualized, goal directed nursing care to patients and families utilizing principles and practices of the nursing process; interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired outcome Entity Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) Our Patient Population Ashley River Tower (ART) 6 West is a 21-bed acute care unit providing care to patients with variety of diagnoses. 6 West (6W) commonly cares for patients admitted on general medicine services, plus specialty services including GI surgery, surgical oncology, vascular surgery, plastic surgery. Additionally, 6W cares for patients admitted on cardiology, CT surgery, hematology/oncology and/or other services as appropriate based on patient needs. Generally, the unit’s patient population is adults (age 18 or older), though our team cares for adolescents (age 14-17) under specific circumstances. Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse II provides individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred.
  • RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date. Refer to policy A141 for more details.
  • A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse required.
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
