The Endoscopy department offers the opportunity to work with a variety of patients for elective, urgent, and emergent needs within the gastrointestinal system. The orientation period is up to 6 months long and can be tailored to individual needs. Roles and Responsibilities: Assess patients with a variety of needs. Use a person-centered care approach in the development of care, and effectively prioritize patient needs that are both expected and unanticipated. Demonstrate strong communication skills to interact with other health care professional and patients. Demonstrate competence and resourcefulness in the implementation of the technical skills required to care for the patient. Demonstrates initiative in remaining current in the organization and department policies, procedures, and standards. Evaluates effectiveness of care giving, shows follow through on delivery, demonstrates critical thinking skills by making appropriate clinical decisions, proactively addresses actual and potential problems, and executing compliant clinical documentation. Assist with educating patients and families and serves as a resource on department standards for patient care. This is a full-time position that includes a call component. The units are regularly staffed Mondays- Fridays 0700-1800. Weekends and holidays are covered by call which rotates amongst the nursing team.

Requirements

  • Current NYS Registered Nursing
  • 1 year of Endoscopy RN experience

Nice To Haves

  • Will obtain BLS during introductory period.
  • ACLS certification must be obtained prior to completion of the introductory period
