About The Position

The Employee Health Nurse helps to ensure the health of LMH Health associates through management of employee injury and illness follow-up and reporting, staff education, and personal protective equipment and immunization programs. Incumbent serves as a resource to staff with questions regarding communicable illnesses.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse in state of Kansas
  • Combination of 3 to 4 years of workers’ compensation case management and Employee Health experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing
  • Prior experience in a hospital/acute care setting

Responsibilities

  • Advise and research current best practices for employee health policy and procedures.
  • Manage employee injury internal investigation and reporting process; regularly communicate with workers’ compensation carrier and evaluate accommodations and return to work options for associates with restricted duties.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources regarding these issues and other non-work related medical restrictions and employee health related concerns.
  • Develop therapeutic relationships with associates promoting decision making based on the assessment of their medical histories, symptoms, examinations, diagnosis, conditions and treatments.
  • Communicate and collaborate concisely and continuously among clinical team, including physicians, both verbally and in documentation focusing on the associates identified problems and needs to optimize their health outcomes.
  • Investigate, follow-up, consult and problem solve with associates regarding infection control questions or concerns.
  • Track, trend and report data regarding Infection Prevention and Environment of Care Committee requirements.
  • Trend employee illnesses/injuries to identify safety and health issues.
  • Collect and report data for employee health topics, such as lifting practices.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources and other leaders as situations require.
  • Exemplifies professionalism: applies lifelong learning; contributes to the science of nursing; participates in governance; shares knowledge to expand the scale and scope of best practices with others; builds the ethical, moral and regulatory base for best practices and processes of patient and unit care.
  • Performs other duties as assigned in line with current basic nursing scope.
