Hemodialysis Registered Nurse The Hemodialysis Registered Nurse (RN) will provide direct patient and family support and nursing care within their full scope of practice dividing their time within the area of hemodialysis and the medical surgical area. This will include participation in the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of programs and services for patients, families, and the community. The responsibilities will include the observation data collection, planning, implementation and evaluation of the patients' physical, psychological, emotional educational and spiritual needs as guided by an individualized and ongoing plan of care. The RN will work collaboratively as a member of the interdisciplinary team.

Requirements

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Experience: Acute care experience in one of the following; Medical, Surgical, Telemetry, Progressive Care, Intensive Care, Critical Care, and/or Emergency Room. Other experience will be considered for qualified candidates. Hemodialysis nursing experience in an acute or chronic setting preferred.
  • Licensure: Currently licensed in the State of New York as a Registered Professional Nurse.
  • Certifications: Will obtain BLS during introductory period, ACLS (can be acquired during orientation period)
  • Physical Requirements: Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., Use of computer keyboard); may require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs), including boxes, equipment, IV solutions and stooping and kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on lower shelves and to file documents in lower file drawers); sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time may be necessary; must be able physically to operate the equipment used for the job.

  • Hemodialysis nursing experience in an acute or chronic setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patients and families, whose needs range from uncomplicated to highly complex and quickly recognizes normal parameters, deviations and abnormalities in physical, emotional, developmental and behavioral status based on past clinical experience. Use a person-centered care approach in the development of care plans and in prioritizing nursing care to meet patient and family needs.
  • Plans for care of patients, demonstrating the ability to effectively prioritize both expected and unanticipated needs. Involves patients and families in establishing care goals.
  • Demonstrates competence in the implementation of the technical skills required for the care of patients and families. Demonstrates initiative in remaining current on CMC policies, procedures and standards. Acts as a resource to peers.
  • Interventions for the attainment of care goals reflect resourceful involvement of CMC health team members. Facilitates the linking of patients and families with other disciplines and services as needed.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of care giving, and shows ongoing follow through in care delivery. Evaluation of care is reflective of the attainment of care goals. Demonstrates proficiency and compliance with established practices in clinical documentation.
