About The Position

The New Mexico VA Health Care System is looking for a Registered Nurse- Diabetes Educator for the Specialty Care Service Team! VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards The Endocrinology service provides consultative services to outpatient and inpatient Veterans living with diabetes in the New Mexico VA Health Care System. Through the Endocrine outpatient and inpatients services, the endocrinology diabetes registered nurse Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist provides comprehensive diabetes patient education to eligible patients, helps support and manage patients on insulin pump and or continuous home glucose monitoring. The endocrinology diabetes registered nurse Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist serves as a point of contact for and triages medical-related contacts to Endocrine diabetes services and the inpatient hospital service. The endocrinology diabetes registered nurse Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist is also an instructor in the facility and helps provide facility wide diabetes outpatient and inpatient staff education under endocrinology's supervision. The endocrinology diabetes registered nurse Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist is accountable for adhering to established policies, standards of care, standards of practice and for demonstrating leadership, experience, and creative approaches to the management of complex patient care under endocrinology's supervision.

Requirements

  • 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory

Responsibilities

  • Helps support endocrinology and endocrinology diabetes clinics
  • Helps support endocrinology diabetes registered nurse Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist clinics
  • Inpatient diabetes RN education and Support
  • Provide support to the inpatient registered nurse Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist
  • Helps support inpatient endocrinology diabetes consult service
  • Helps support inpatient diabetes hospital services
  • Helps teach and assist with coordination the facility wide outpatient patient diabetes education program (DSMES)
  • Hels provide outpatient staff diabetes education under endocrinology's supervision
  • Helps provide inpatient patient diabetes education under endocrinology's supervision
  • Helps provide inpatient staff diabetes education under endocrinology's supervision
