About The Position

As an academic medical center with a rich history of providing life-saving treatment in Southern Nevada, UMC serves as the anchor hospital of the Las Vegas Medical District, offering Nevada's highest level of care to promote successful medical outcomes for patients. ELIGIBLE FOR 5% CRITICAL CARE DIFFERENTIAL ON TOP OF THE POSTED BASE PAY Position Summary: Provides care acutely and critically ill patients in need of intravenous treatment in a highly technical and ongoing monitoring environment and responds to calls for intravenous treatment and placement throughout the hospital. Administers intravenous therapeutic treatments as directed by a physician. Observes patients' IV treatment and records observations in patient medical records. Provides information to patients and families regarding intravenous treatment and procedures.Education/Experience: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and meets the requirements as specified in the Nursing Administration Policies.

Requirements

  • Current License by the Nevada State Board of Nursing to Practice as a Registered Nurse, and meets the requirements as specified in the Nursing Administration Policies.
  • Current BLS, ACLS and USGIV certification at hire.
  • PICC &CPI within 12 months of hire.
  • Registered Nurse with a minimum of two (2) years documented Critical Care nursing experience within the past 5 years
  • Current USGIV/PICC Certification
  • Must be open to nights and weekends
  • Current UMC employee

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of advance practice IV therapy, and Critical Care medication administration
  • Competency in Ultrasound Guided IV and Midline IV placement
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PICC line and central line placement and criteria
