Requirements

  • Licensure: Current, unrestricted NC or multistate Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Crisis Experience: At least one (1) year of experience in a crisis management setting or service during which the individual provided crisis response.
  • Behavioral Health Experience: At least one (1) year of experience working with children or adults in a behavioral health capacity.
  • Associates: Nursing (Required)
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - State Board of Nursing
  • Experience in a crisis management setting or service during which the individual provided crisis response | 1 Year | Required
  • Experience working with children or adults in a behavioral health capacity | 1 Year | Required

Responsibilities

  • Assess and document individuals' appropriateness for services, level of functioning, health status, mental status, medical history, medications, and medication compliance
  • Educate individuals receiving services about mental illness and substance use disorder, participate in the development of discharge and referral plans.
  • Ensure that people who need a higher level or different level of care are referred or placed.
  • Monitor individuals who are receiving services to ensure health and safety.
  • Carry out functions including crisis intervention, medication administration, assessment of vital signs, referral for emergency medical treatment as necessary, observation of individual response to medication and nursing assessment.
  • Attend and actively participate in meetings and training as required.
  • Maintain certification in all agency, state and federal training requirements.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and comply with all agency policies and procedures, as well as, state and federal statutes and regulations related to specific program areas
  • Demonstrate knowledge of emergency procedures and assist in crisis situations.
  • Ensure that physician orders and service definition guidelines for services being provided are followed.
  • Complete all other relevant responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Driving and travel may be required.
