About The Position

A large healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join its Behavioral Health Adult Emergency department. This role provides direct patient care, clinical assessment, and crisis intervention for adults experiencing behavioral health emergencies in a fast-paced emergency setting. The ideal candidate will bring strong emergency room and behavioral health experience, a calm and compassionate approach to crisis care, and a strong commitment to patient safety and clinical excellence.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of behavioral health nursing experience (required)
• Minimum 2 years of emergency room nursing experience (required)
• Prior experience in Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP) settings (required)
• Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license (required)
• Primary Source Verification (required)
• Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to adults experiencing behavioral health crises
• Perform triage, clinical assessments, and emergency interventions in a behavioral health emergency setting
• Collaborate with physicians, behavioral health providers, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated care
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses in accordance with clinical protocols
• Implement and maintain patient safety and de-escalation strategies
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record
• Support patients and families through education, communication, and crisis management
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and state and federal regulations, including HIPAA
