About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Nurse Manager – Behavioral Health to oversee the daily clinical and operational functions of a Behavioral Health Nursing Department within an acute care hospital environment. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered behavioral health services while supporting nursing staff, maintaining regulatory compliance, and improving departmental performance. The Nurse Manager will collaborate closely with House Supervisors, Charge Nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to maintain operational excellence and positive patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – Required
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in one of the following roles within a Behavioral Health Unit in an acute care setting : Nursing Manager Nursing Supervisor Clinical Team Lead
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (or ability to obtain licensure in Virginia)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Certification required within 30 days of hire

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the Behavioral Health Nursing Department .
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and supervision to nursing staff to promote professional growth and clinical excellence.
  • Ensure delivery of safe, patient-centered behavioral health care in alignment with organizational standards and best practices.
  • Coordinate staffing, scheduling, and departmental workflow to support efficient patient care operations.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory guidelines .
  • Collaborate with physicians, administrators, and multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient care and departmental performance.
  • Support and lead quality improvement initiatives and performance metrics within the department.
  • Participate in staff training, development, and performance evaluations .
  • Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement .
