About The Position

Geisinger is offering a hiring incentive up to $26,000 for eligible Inpatient RN candidates, with a minimum hiring rate of $41.41 and increased rates for experienced individuals, plus up to $7 shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts. The Registered Nurse assesses, plans, organizes, performs, and evaluates nursing activities to meet patient needs, promoting adaptive responses of patients and families to achieve the highest level of patient care, safety, and satisfaction. This role involves compassionate patient-nurse interactions and coordination of patient care and staff. The position is for the Advanced Acute Care Telemetry Unit at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre (GSWB), which features all private rooms and a patient population typically consisting of a broad range of acute to complex medical conditions with remote telemetry capabilities. Hospitalist services are available 24/7. Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Complete patient assessments as established by scope of practice and unit standards.
  • Address physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients and families throughout the continuum of care.
  • Formulate, coordinate, and provide a plan of care, including patient and family education, family needs, and discharge planning, in collaboration with members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide direct patient care, including treatments, medications, and diagnostic studies, according to policy and procedure.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions and revise the plan of care based upon patient response.
  • Initiate collaboration with physicians, ancillary personnel, and other interdisciplinary team members and act to proactively resolve and facilitate patient needs.
  • Problem-solve, troubleshoot, and take corrective measures in the care and handling of equipment.
  • Participate in unit-based decision-making regarding the utilization of evidence-based practice.
  • Actively participate as a team member working toward team goals of the unit and organization and be accountable for unit and system specific metrics.
  • Actively participate in patient quality and safety education programs and other activities designed to improve departmental and organizational quality and safety.
  • Promote adaptive responses of patient and family to achieve the highest level of patient care, promote safety, and maximize patient satisfaction.
  • Exhibit compassionate care during patient-nurse interactions.
  • Coordinate patient care and interaction of staff.
  • Meet the qualifications to provide care for patients in their assigned nursing unit.
  • Ensure the very best patient and family experience by optimizing all interactions.
